The long-awaited update to Windows 10 will be available as a free update for certain existing systems, although several products are on the way that are tailor-made for the new OS.<\/p>\n<p>While many users will gain instant access on October 5th, Microsoft will be rolling out the Windows 11 update in waves. Depending on your device, you might be waiting weeks \u2013 or months \u2013 before the update is pushed to your laptop. In general, expect to see the OS rolled out to the latest products before coming to anything older and less mainstream.<\/p>\n<div class=\"caas-da\">\n<div id=\"sda-INARTICLE\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the tremendous learning&#8217;s from Windows 10, we want to make sure we\u2019re providing you with the best possible experience,\u201d Aaron Woodman, general manager of Windows marketing at Microsoft, said. \u201cWe expect all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Windows 11 Required PC Specs<\/h2>\n<p>Microsoft has released detailed hardware requirements for Windows 11 ahead of its launch later this year. If you don\u2019t meet the specs, don\u2019t worry \u2013 Windows 10 will continue to receive support until October 14th, 2025.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"caas-list caas-list-bullet\">\n<li>\n<p>1GHz processor with two or more cores<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>64-bit compatible<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>4GB RAM<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>64GB storage<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>GPU compatible with DirectX 12<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>UEFI, Secure Boot capable system firmware<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>TPM version 2.0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>720p or greater display<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Internet connection<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The development team also mentioned you\u2019ll want to ensure you\u2019re running Windows 10, version 20H1 or later for the \u201cbest Windows 11 upgrade experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If all the above specs look like gibberish, just know that most PCs less than four years old should be compatible with Windows 11.
