{"id":5951,"date":"2020-06-29T00:30:57","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T05:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.zoha-islands.com\/?p=5951"},"modified":"2020-06-29T00:30:57","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T05:30:57","slug":"railroads-made-in-second-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zoha-islands.com\/blog\/railroads-made-in-second-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Railroads Made in Second Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"ipsType_richText ipsType_break ipsContained\">\n<div data-controller=\"core.front.core.lightboxedImages\">\n<h2><strong>Railroads Made in Second Life &#8211; A Five-Part Mini-Series &amp; Live<\/strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/content.invisioncic.com\/Mseclife\/monthly_2020_06\/386667530_RailroadsMadeinSL.thumb.png.30ee2ca07a7bee37237458100ec92ae1.png\" alt=\"Railroads Made in SL.png\" width=\"750\" height=\"750\" data-fileid=\"106002\" data-ratio=\"100.00\" data-unique=\"52er08rmr\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme for our <a href=\"https:\/\/secondlife.com\/view\/sl17b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">SL17B celebrations<\/a> is<em> \u201cvacations and road trips\u201d<\/em> &#8211; and, in this spirit, we are pleased to debut today a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLC31ohsOopvc_iZA_q4mdFHzJlw2Qu1tW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">five-part mini-series<\/a> dedicated to the unique history, culture and communities surrounding one of the most popular modes of travel in our virtual world &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/go.secondlife.com\/landing\/trains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">railroads in Second Life<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our virtual journalist Draxtor Despres recently took a ride on the rails of SL to travel across <a href=\"https:\/\/secondlife.com\/destinations\/sports\/trains\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">miles of virtual railroad tracks spanning across the grid<\/a>. Along the way, he makes multiple stops to meet a wide variety of colorful characters and creative communities.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"ips_uid_8265_6\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vxGwwaDdUDQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/vxGwwaDdUDQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">episode one<\/a>, Hrdtop75 Deluxe of the <a href=\"https:\/\/virtualrailwayconsortium.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Virtual Railroad Consortium<\/a> joins Drax for a look back at the origins and history of the Second Life Railroad (SLRR) system which originated in 2003 within the northwest part of the Sansara continent before eventually expanding to more than 80 regions including the Heterocera (or Atoll continent).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/aeBPvCXMbH4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Episode two<\/a> focuses on the <a href=\"https:\/\/places.secondlife.com\/parcels\/3832\/bay-city-vrc-electric-substation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Bay City Short Line<\/a> and trolley developed under the guidance of SLRR co-founder Athos Murphy (formerly known as Michael Linden).<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OGipA-6-agU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">episode three<\/a>, both Drax and Hrdtop75 explore the <a href=\"https:\/\/places.secondlife.com\/parcels\/3889\/virtual-railway-consortium-snowlands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">ONSR (Okemo Nakiska &amp; Southern Railway<\/a>), located in the snowland regions of the Sansara continent. The ONSR spans across 13 regions and serves 10 stations for a roundtrip averaging about 22 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/QOID_L2aNfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Episode four<\/a> highlights the communities surrounding the <a href=\"https:\/\/places.secondlife.com\/parcels\/65671\/the-zany-zen-railway-somdari-station\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">ZZR (Zany Zen Railway)<\/a>, which was built by Zen Swords-Galway. As you travel the ZZR, you\u2019ll discover a variety of quirky communities and unique attractions including the small Welsh seaside town Little Coverston.<\/p>\n<p>The series concludes in <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZTOljrRSy5c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">episode five<\/a> featuring an interview with VP of Product Operations Patch Linden, who discusses the important role of railways within the expansive infrastructure of the massive Bellisseria continents (where thousands of Residents reside within Linden Homes).<\/p>\n<p>Drax will be joined by many of the interview subjects featured in the series during a special\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/secondlife.com\/destination\/railroads-made-in-sl-sl17b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">SL17B Q&amp;A and screening event held inworld<\/a> June 23 at noon SLT.
